In exothermic reaction, heat is released whereas in endothermic reaction heat is absorbed. Thus temperature control is essential for continuing the reaction process. Heating and cooling system play crucial role in determining product quality and production rate. Jacketed vessels are normally used for such processes.  Jackets can be conventional, dimple type or limpet coil type.

​

The Limpet Coil is half round pipe shaped coil welded on the outside of the vessel to allow heating or cooling media to flow. It has added advantage over simple jacket arrangement due to uniform fluid velocity through the coil and proper distribution of heat transfer medium around the vessel periphery.

The vessels with limpet coils have 2 to 3 times higher heat transfer coefficients for heating processes and 1.25 to 1.5 times for cooling processes as compared to conventional jacketed vessels. Double start limpet coil jacket has added advantage over dimpled and conventional jackets, of carrying out heating and cooling process in the single vessel. Limpet coil jacket has optimal economic advantage over the other jackets because it provides increased strength to the pressure vessel, high velocity and turbulence within the jacket and better temperature control.

We, at Kronos Metalcraft Pvt. Ltd., manufacture continuous limpet coils in single piece with multiple turns on a cold roll forming mill instead of old practice of welding two or more pieces to form a single turn. The Limpet Coil diameter is customized as per vessel diameter with an increment of 5 to 10 mm to aid easy fitment on the vessel. We provide the continuous limpet coils of desired length without any joints which has various advantages over the conventional welded coil technique.

  • We provide end to end support in case of Third Party Inspection (TPI).

Advantages over conventional welded coil technique​​

​​

  • Continuous Limpet Coil formed by Cold Roll Forming Technique, with Lesser or NO butt joints along the reactor.

  • Lesser work hardening of material due to stage wise forming process resulting in better weld joint strength with Equipment.

  • No risk of material oxidation at butt welding without purging of inert gas. Material’s Corrosion Resistant Property remains intact.

  • Longer life of the reactor due to fewer weld joints reduces the chances of leakage.

  • Less time consuming – up to 60-80% lesser time for tagging

  • Continuous duly bent limpet coil saves wastage of base material and consumables.
